The 'polar' satellite (TC-2) was launched into a 682 km x 38279 km polar orbit. Thus it is sampling the polar cap and cusp regions which are the main regions where energy from the Sun flows into the magnetosphere. Its instruments concentrate on the physical processes taking place over the magnetic poles and the development of auroras. TC-2 is expected to operate for at least one year.
